Frédéric has traveled the world sharing his technique with artists

of all ages and all experiences.

To ensure a place in one of his next workshops :

Florence, Italy

Using traditional and non-traditional painting techniques,

Frederic will instruct painters on how to use photographs

to create a painting that surpasses the look of the photo, not just the imitation

The emphasis is on applying the paint and how to prepare the surface

Focusing on the brush strokes released and maintaining accurate color relationships

Students will reach structural volumes by focusing on the relationship between

all parts of the image with an organized palette

Deciding when and how to invent and experiment is a crucial part of the process

Students will be invited to look in more detail at the painting than the photographic reference

We will explore ways to involve details without exaggerating,

and what level of finish works best for painting especially

The painting will develop through indirect layers of opaque and transparent layers

to obtain the delicate nuances of the flesh and other surfaces

The end result can be a painting that captures the essence of a subject

and the intimacy of human contact that transcends a smooth, photo-realistic image

There are a variety of results ranging from abstraction / improvisation to a more illusionistic representation

All will be discussed and the challenges and benefits of each will be explored.
